Joseph Tambellini Serves Up New Restaurant

Joseph and Melissa Tambellini announce the opening of “Joseph Tambellini Restaurant” on August 10 at the former Laforet site located at 5701 Bryant Street in Highland Park, (412) 665-9000. Specializing in classic Italian influenced cuisine, the restaurant will reflect Chef Joseph Tambellini’s years of culinary experience. The menu will feature selections including Almond Crusted Sea bass, Veal Chop Saltimbocca, Seafood Risotto and South African lobster poached in vanilla butter, accompanied by salad and pasta courses. Special requests and dietary restrictions will be readily accommodated. Additionally, several collaborative dinners are being planned with Michael and Candace Uricchio, Laforet’s popular owners.
Sommelier Rick Gaetano will manage the wine cellar, which features mostly Italian and Californian selections.
The Tambellini name has long been synonymous with fine Pittsburgh dining. Joseph began his career in 1978 at his father’s restaurant (Robert Tambellini’s on Liberty Avenue downtown), apprenticing under Chef Oliver Fontana. His wide breadth of experience also includes Louis Tambellini Restaurant, Carmassi’s Tuscany Grill and Bravo Franco. Most recently, he served as Executive Chef for seven years at Franco’s Trattoria, where he developed his signature of simple but elegant preparations and generous portions.
Restaurant hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday- 4:00-10:00; Friday and Saturday – 4:00 – 11:00. Mondays and all lunch are open to private groups, reservations only. Entrée price will range from $20 to $40. Reservations are recommended by calling 412-665-9000. Attire for this non-smoking restaurant is smart casual.
